Rob Edwards and O'Neil represent the initial names under consideration to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club directors as they start the search of hiring a fresh manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected contender, although he would be a shock appointment given he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham United player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not be required to pay any compensation.
