Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge comes as the global fight fans shared its support for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
